The latest report from the China Research and Analysis Industry Research Institute shows that the market size of automotive mufflers in China will reach 150 billion yuan in 2025, among which micro-perforation technology products account for more than 40%. This technology achieves deep attenuation of medium and high-frequency noise (500-2000Hz) by drilling micro-holes with diameters of 0.5-1mm in metal plates and consuming energy through the friction of sound waves in the pores.
The advantage of micro-perforated mufflers lies in the fact that they do not require the filling of sound-absorbing materials, thus avoiding the risk of traditional glass fibers falling off at high temperatures. The technical director of Zhejiang Yilun Machinery Co., Ltd. introduced, "The ceramic matrix composite material micro-perforated mufflers we have developed for automakers such as Geely and Great Wall have a temperature resistance of up to 1200℃ and a volume 40% smaller than traditional products. They have been applied to models such as ZEEKR 001 and Tank 500."
The report indicates that with the advancement of the "dual carbon" goals and the implementation of the National VII emission standards in 2025, the penetration rate of micro-perforated mufflers in the commercial vehicle sector will increase from the current 28% to 55%. Borgwarner, an internationally renowned supplier, has established three automated production lines in China, with an annual production capacity of 1.2 million sets.
